The Portage Central Mustangs came out strong and skated to an 8 – 1 victory over the Kalamazoo Blades in a league game at Wings West Ice Arena. Eight different Mustang players recorded points in the game, led by junior Max Mones with 3 goals and 1 assist. The Mustangs peppered Blades goalie Max Angelin with 37 shots on goal and many other scoring chances.
The Mustang attack was much deeper than just Mones as a number of senior Mustangs had an impact. Davin Renda had 4 assists, Derek Hesse had 2 goals and an assist, Jack Spoule scored the first goal of the game and goaltender Austin Reaume made 15 saves. Junior Jarod Hauer and Sophomore Erek Decker each scored and Andrew Carothers and Drew McNassor both recorded assists.

The Mustangs return to action next Wednesday against the undefeated Mattawan Wildcats in an important league game to determine who will sit atop the SWMHSHL standings.
