The Clarkston Wolves entered the game ranked #15 in the High School Division I standings and the Mustangs knew this would not be an easy game. The Mustangs played hard and disciplined for the first period. Thanks to the team's defensive efforts and good goaltending by Bryan Gracey, the Mustangs finished the period tied at 1 despite being outshot 15 to 6.
The Seal brothers teamed up for the lone Mustang goal in the first period. The Wolves were on the powerplay when Rocco grabbed the puck and fired it up the boards. The puck deflected off a defender to John Seals who skated in on the breakaway and scored top shelf, glove side.
The second period did not go as well for the Mustangs. Ten penalties were whistled in the second, eight of them against the Mustangs, included a 5 minute major and 2 different misconduct penalties. The Wolves took advantage of the situation and scored 5 goals while outshooting the Mustangs 24 -3.
The Mustangs scored their only other goal of the game in the third period on the power play. Ryan Jaros picked up a rebound and passed it back to Skyler Sorenson at the point. Sorenson fired a slapshot on net which was blocked, but Maschke jumped on the rebound and poked the puck past the goalie.
For the game, Clarkston outshot the Mustangs 49-18. Bryan Grace played well and finished with 41 saves.
